Erik and Yvonne are two of the kindest, most loving, most generous people I know. Together they care deeply for the Earth, for the Oceans, for their family and friends, and especially for one another. I was so touched when they asked me to photograph their beautiful wedding in Waialua, O’ahu. This magical land of waves, mountains, and history is a place that they have called home for many years. It’s here that they work as Scientists and Mariners, forever seeking to make the world a better place. When these two are together, they light up the room with their joy and warmth. Just check out Yvonne’s amazing smile…it’s so contagious! The wedding was hosted at the Hawaii Polo Club on the North Shore. Along with the help of their amazing family and friends, Erik and Yvonne hosted an eco friendly, locally sourced, DIY wedding. It was incredible to watch all of the collaboration of their loved ones coming together to create the wedding of their dreams. (I got to help in foraging for wildflowers to fill the bouquets and centerpieces, as well as teaching a pre-wedding yoga class!) As sunset turned into evening, the party kicked off with some amazing dance moves, a late night ocean dunk, and a surprise Tahitian dance from Yvonne to her newlywed husband. It was amazing! I was so lucky to have the opportunity of photographing the union of these two beautiful souls and I look forward to sharing this journey of life alongside such great friends. Congratulations Erik and Yvonne! We love you!
